New to the Bison showroom - CNC tube plasma cutting!

We are pleased to welcome the Morgan Rushworth SPM CNC Tube Plasma Cutting Machine to the Bison showroom. This innovative product is ready to demonstrate with both cutting and engraving processes in round, square and rectangular tubes - quickly producing round holes, slots, cut-outs and tube end joint profiles. The SPM machine is truly an affordable alternative to tube laser cutting, at a quality which is perfectly acceptable for many applications.

So what are the main features of the SPM plasma?

Powerful CAM Software

The SPM tube plasma features CNC programming created through the desktop CAM software provided. The software can import 2D and 3D files or can create entire parts using its own design functionality. Once the part file is created it can be nested onto a tube ready for processing at the machine; dissimilar parts using the same profile can be nested together for maximum material utilisation.

Range of capacities available

Models are available for tube diameters up to 300mm - or equivalent in square or rectangular tube - and for lengths of up to 12 metres. Our showroom model has 150mm round tube capacity with a 6 metre bed length. Across all models, a precision chuck holds the tube at both the front and rear of the machine, with the rear chuck also performing the feeding action. A servo controlled support rises and falls ensuring the material is supported at all times.

Hypertherm Powermax plasma

For plasma cutting the SPM model features the market leading Hypertherm Powermax plasma sources along with a mechanised cutting torch. While higher powered plasma sources are available for the most demanding applications, our showroom model features the 45 amp model which is sufficient for the wall thickness of most tubes within the machine's capacity.

Optional equipment

Optional equipment includes a universal external support roller, a water flush system to minimise heat build up in the part and an engraving pen for easy marking of reference codes or positional guides. Our showroom machine is fitted with all these options so that we can easily demonstrate the benefits they bring to the SPM machine. An additional software module is also available for open sided profiles such as angle and channel, opening up even more capabilities.
